Vanilla is a viney plant native to Central America and Mexico. In an orchid, vanilla is the only member of the world's largest family of plants used for food. Vanilla vines climb as long as 350 feet up host tree. Produced on the vines are yellow-white flowers which turn into sleder pods or beans.
