Name of your website?Cozumel vacation rental Casa Olivia
Your name?
Olivia
Your Location (city, etc)
Origionally from UK but now living in Virginina
This site features Casa Olivia, a vacation rental home on Cozumel. This is the place Olivia and her diver husband consider home in Cozumel so it has all the trimmings you would expect in a vacation home ... and then some. Its certainly not just a basic vacation rental.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The site gives information about the home and information about the wonderful island of Cozumel
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Casa Olivia first came to the cozumel vacation rental market in 2006 so everything is very new including the brand new pool completed that same year. Read about the pool that Olivia built in Olivia's blog at CozumelDiary.blogspot.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The home is of course named after its owner, Olivia. The owners considered a number of names but in the meantime everyone referred to it as Casa Olivia because of the new owners influence on the design ... so they stuck with it in the end!
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
When you checkout the features and amenities of the property you will find it certainly does provide more that the average vacation rental.
For example, Cozumel bedding is rather harsh on the body, so quality bedding and therafoam mattress toppers have been shipped in from the States as have many of the electrical items.
The bathroom offers a walk in shower and a full bath (many top Cozumel hotels dont even offer that!) and because there is a diver in the family, the pool is deep enought to check your gear and there are good diver facilities. A deep pool is unusual for many homes on Cozumel because of the difficulty penetrating the carst surface.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Casa Olivia will be renting for the foreseeable future and hopes to continue to build repeat customers by listening to what they want and offering offering a top quality vacation experience.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far Casa Olivia has been very sucessfull, the owners are careful to maintain regularly so that the excellent standards are maintained.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Future developments are always in mind. Olivia likes to dream about building a third level to the home ... but the next venture will probably be a pool table for guests on the large (30x10) palapa balcony!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Since the owners are very keen to maintain superior standards at Casa Olivia they make sure they dont "over rent", regardless of demand. It is after all their home on Cozumel too!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Of course, Cozumel gets its fair share of hurricanes. Wilma and Emily passed through in recent years but Cozumel houses are build strong and there was amazingly little damage done to the property. The gardens were badly hit however ... but being the tropics, they have now sprung back better than ever.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Building the pool has so far been the greatest challenge. Olivia decided to blog the whole experience to give others an idea of what is involved. You can read about it at cozumeldiary.blogspot.com
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Casa Olivia is featured on many other sites advertising vacation rentals on Cozumel.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Amongst other things, Olivia is also a website designer and her very usable website with its large selection of photo's demonstrates this.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been running for a year or so now and will continue to grow ... watch this space!
Why Cozumel?
The owners of Casa Olivia fell in love with Cozumel over 10 years ago and had been visiting for many years before they took the plunge and bought property there. Their main reason for choosing Cozumel was the very low crime rate on the island and friendliness of the people there. They constantly amaze with their strong work ethic, excellent customer service record, honesty and pleasure in life. You cant help but be touched by their resilience and verve for life!
Everyone who visits falls in love with Cozumel and where best to stay but ... Casa Olivia of course!
